Burning Man How to explain the wonderful experience that is Burning Man is a question I have often pondered, trying to chain together at least a few words to describe the event. These words, however, remain elusive. Part of the reason this is so, is because it would take a book to explain all of it, and still you wouldn't be able to match the smell, the sound, the sight of Burning Man. For example, there simply aren't enough words for the phrase "dust storm" to describe the many ways dust feels blowing at you from the side, from above, at 5 mph, at 50 mph. Eskimos have over 20 words for snow, but as of yet the english language falls short of being able to decipher between the dust storm that resulted in a two-hour camp snuggle, or the dust storm that nearly took four people holding onto a 50x50 ft tarp for a low-altitude flight. Only the most creative writer could summarize the Burning Man experience in a concise and brief paragraph. I am not that writer, so I'm resorting to pictures. I've been to Burning Man twice now, the first time in 2002, camping with Om Bayou, and again in 2003 with the burners formerly known as Om Bayou, transmorphed into the Shambhala Mythical Critter Rodeo and Mental State Fair. This group is composed of some of the most wonderful people I have ever known, including my sister who introduced me to the group, and to the event. Click on the links above to go to the pictures of Burning Man. I never took any myself, for some reason, so these are all taken from the albums of friends, but enjoy!
